The newest trailer for X-Men: Apocalypse just dropped, and it looks epically intense.
The next installment of 20th Century Fox’s corner of the Marvel franchise pits a cadre of young X-Men led by Professor X (James McAvoy) and Raven/Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence) against Apocalypse (Oscar Isaac), an immortal, powerful mutant bent on the total destruction of mankind.
Michael Fassbender will reprise his role as Magneto, who is recruited to join Apocalypse’s “Four Horsemen.” The only thing missing from this sure-to-be intense battle between good versus evil is Hugh Jackman as Wolverine; last year, the veteran actor annouced that he’d no longer be playing the beloved character in the mainstream X-Men saga. While he may be making a cameo appearance in Apocalypse, the still-untitled Wolverine 3 (2017) is set to be his final film in claws.
X-Men: Apocalypse, directed by Brian Singer, will hit theaters on May 27th, 2016.
